Daily Vegan Lunch for 17 March, 2013: Chard, Garlic, and Sausage Pizza

Processed animal meats have been definitively linked with increased risk of cancer, Parkinson’s, heart disease, and a host of other disorders. Giving a child processed meats raises his or her chance of getting lymphoma by 17 percent. Not to mention vegan sausage, like this one by Field Roast, tastes eerily like its animal flesh counterpart.

vegan chard sausage tofu chevre pizza

1/2 ball of store bought pizza dough, rolled very thin
1.5 cups marinara sauce
2 sliced vegan Italian sausages.  I used Field Roast Italian Sausage
2 large leaves Swiss chard, sliced thin
1.5 – 2 cups tofu chèvre
4 cloves fresh garlic, minced

Roll the dough ball very thin and press it into the pizza pan, working towards the edges from the middle.  Mix fresh garlic with marinara sauce and spread across dough.  Layer on the tofu chèvre, sausage, and Swiss chard.  Bake in a 425 degree oven for 15-20 minutes or until the edge of crust lifts up like a cracker.
